How to Clean Your Grill
Your grill has been good to you—helping you create great memories with family and friends. To extend the life of your grill and keep it performing well for many grilling seasons to come, it’s important to clean it properly. Luckily, you’ve come to the right place.
Clean the grates after every use.
If your grill has already cooled, start by preheating the grill for 15 minutes on high heat. This loosens caked-on grease, making it easier to remove.
Turn off the gas and clean the grates using a stiff wire brush dipped in soapy water.
Once clean, lightly coat the grates with a cooking spray or vegetable oil to protect them and reduce stuck-on food in the future.
Give your grill a thorough cleaning at least once a year.
Clean the grates as indicated above and remove them.
Turn off the gas and allow the grill to cool completely.
Remove the heat deflectors, located over the burners, and scrub them with a Brillo® Heavy Duty Steel Wool Soap Pad and a bucket of warm water.
Remove the burners and clean out any blockages to the gas ports by scrubbing them horizontally with a stiff wire brush. Run water from a hose through the burner valves to remove any additional debris.
Clean the inside of the cook box and the underside of the lid with warm water and your steel wool soap pad. It’s easiest to remove the gas tank below and place a bucket under the cook box to catch the dirty water and debris as you go.
Rinse the cook box with a hose. Towel dry the burners and replace them. Replace the heat deflectors and the grates as well before moving on to the outside of the grill.
Ceramic, stainless steel, and painted outer surfaces can be cleaned using a Brillo Estracell® No-Scratch Sponge.
