How to Clean Every Corner of Your Home

It’s easy to find information about cleaning common areas like windows and floors, but what about all the other nooks and crannies? We’ve gathered some of our favorite miscellaneous cleaning tips to help you make every room of your home cleaner and more comfortable.

  1. Start high and work down. If you clean your floors first and then dust your ceiling fan, well, where do you think that dust ends up? To ensure each surface stays clean as you move on to the next job, follow the general rule of starting high and working your way down.

  2. Sanitize high-touch surfaces. From doorknobs to light switches, anything you touch a lot is probably covered in germs, which means you should clean them regularly—even if they don’t look dirty. And don’t forget about your remote controls and cell phones!

  3. Ditch the paper towels. They rip, they bunch up, and they fall apart when they get wet. To clean mini blinds and other delicate items, we recommend our Brillo® Estracell® Sponge Cloth. It’s more absorbent, more durable, and easier to maneuver.

  4. Take care of fabrics and upholstery. Use a lint roller to remove pet hair from furniture, curtains, and stuffed animals. A gleaner, made for de-pilling sweaters, can also remove pills from wool blankets and throw pillows.

  5. Break out the elbow grease. One of the secrets to cleaning large surfaces like doorframes and baseboards is that you have to put a little muscle into it. But, that can be fun! We promise. Fill a bucket, get on your hands and knees, and grab a heavy-duty sponge like our Brillo Estracell Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge. Your home will thank you.
